Strategic Brief

Overview of Project:

Petaluma Arts Council is a very new organization and, therefore, the benchmarks are brief. The historical importance of artistic production and appreciation of art in all communities and cultures since prehistoric times is well known. From cave drawings to comic books art has been influential in representing a culture's expression of both inner and outer visions of life. To recognize and honor the role of art is as important to maintaining a vibrant, healthy community, as increasing business, buildings, transportation and schools. With this belief, the Petaluma Arts Council was born.

The mission of the site is to bring the arts into the communities view. It must have a strong aesthetic element as well as sense of community. Our site will include an artist registry where local artists can submit a form; upon approval they will be given the opportunity to have their work displayed on the Website. The Petaluma Arts Council will have a total of three forms placed in the registry page and the root directory. The approved artists will be found in the registry as a linked list. We will have a calendar, which includes current and upcoming event. Individual pages for featured events, including the Butter and Eggs Day Parade, Day of the Dead, and Friday night films. A membership form for people interested in contributing to the Arts Council is available for either time or monetary commitments. Our site will include images from local artists displayed in the gallery page. It will include a home page, seven second-level pages and five third-level pages. We have acquired slides from local artists, word documents for our content and line art drawings we will be scanning and displaying.

Project Objectives:

The Petaluma Arts Council is committed to making the arts accessible to all residents. We want Petaluma to serve as an example of a community, which values its artists and the role they play in the quality of life. It will include gallery openings, resources for artists and amateurs alike.

The primary goal for the site is to increase visibility of the Arts Council and its organizational efforts and to serve as a registry for local artists. The site will serve as a clearinghouse for artists seeking exhibition and commission information. It will support and develop educational programs for students of all ages bringing the artful eye more into public view.

Tone and Message of message:

To bring art to the people, wherever they are, letting them know there is a place for anyone in the Arts Council. It should be warm and inviting as well as a strong sense of community involvement. Everyone is welcome to learn and be involved in the Petaluma Arts Council.

Target Market:

The target market for this website will be the Petaluma community. This includes local schools and individuals interested in artists and galleries within the community.

Benchmarks for success:

  1. Creating a site easy to use and visually pleasing.
  2. Increasing membership in the Petaluma Arts Council and creating an easy way for community members to donate their time and money to the Arts Council.
  3. Increase community involvement with an accessible calendar which contains monthly events.
  4. Bring into the publics view or many talented artists here in the community as well as a network for them to build amongst one another.
  5. To make the arts available for anyone interested in a better quality of life.
