Creative Brief Title

Petaluma Arts Council's Creative Brief

The Petaluma Arts Council is commited to making the arts accessible to all residents. They want Petaluma to serve as an example of a community, which values its artists and the role they play in the quality of life. The primary goal of this website is to increase the visibility of the Petaluma Arts Council and its organizational efforts and to seek a registry for local artists. The site will serve as a clearinghouse for artists seeking exhibition and commission information. It will develop educational programs for students of all ages bringing the artful eye more into the public.

The target audience is the Petaluma community of local schools and individuals interested in artists and galleries within the community. With that being said the site will have a sophisticated but not intimidating look and feel to it. The colors will bring the feelings of watching the leaves change colors during the Fall season and of watching the sun set above the rolling hills of Sonoma County. It is a romantic blend of warm earth tones and all the class and nostalgia of what Petaluma and art is all about. After all, that is what art is, beauty, romance and warmth all rolled into one.

The home page will have a 2 color background of green(#999900) and brown(#996600), a logo at the top right corner and graphical text links going down the middle in a single column. A rollover action will appear when the mouse is positioned over the links, with a listing appearing to the right of the link with information of what you will find on the second level page and the link changing color to blue(#000099). Above the short description there will be icons that in turn will be used with the header on the second level pages giving those pages a branded identity.

The second and third level pages will have a brown(#996600) bar going across the top with a logo smaller than the home page in the top left corner. To the right of the logo will be the navigation links to the second level pages that activate a persistent rollover event of a box showing up below the brown bar with the links to the third level pages. Underneath the logo lies the icon for that particular page and its header, which will be a graphic. Below will be white space where all the text will be placed. On the bottom of each page there will be a series of text links, so the visitor won't have to scroll to the top of the page to visit another link of interest.

Text specifications will be controlled by the external style sheet that will contain the following:

  • Body text-"Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"
  • Font size-12 pt
  • Line height-15 pt
  • Color-#666666
  • Link-"Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif", bold, no underline, #996600
  • Hover-"Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif", bold, no underline, #999900
  • Visited-"Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif", bold, no underline, #666666
  • Active-"Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif", bold, no underline, #000099
  • Page margins-left=0, top=0, right=0, bottom=0

    3. Find header.gif and replace with header file that refers to page you are working on, example for studio page replace with h-studio.gif. all header files will start with the letter "h" followed by a dash and the page name.
